Rachelle Denis will spend eight more months in jail for the 2010 manslaughter of Richmond chip stand owner Tony El-Kassis.
Judge Robert Smith sentenced Denis, 43, to an eight-year stretch, but gave her enhanced credit for time served.
Thursday’s sentencing decision was the last chapter in a case that saw Crown and defence lawyers both claiming victory after a jury convicted her of manslaughter in February.
The mentally ill woman had been on trial for second-degree murder; though jurors found she lacked a specific intent to kill they were also unconvinced her fragile mental state made her not criminally responsible for her actions.
